So, when are you going to look closer at your home city and attempt to tell everyone else about it in our City Notebooks? We know you are more likely to want to tell everyone more about far flung cities that you have visited briefly and photographed with the latest duty free megapixel marvel than write about your own home.
Doesn’t really make sense does it?
When you think about it, there is so much you did not know about the city you visited, and so much you do know about your own.
So why not try to explain to others all the answers to questions you might have wanted to ask a local when you were in a foreign city.
Questions about public transport, accommodation, sightseeing attractions and historical facts to mention but a few.

Bon soir on our second last day in Paris.
Leah, I am missing les petite enfants!
Special mention to Jesses email, yes Lundi is Monday, just that the notice said closed on Tuesday _ and it was Tuesday! Oh Well, to just stand in the forecourt of The Louvre gazing at the pyramid will never be forgotten even if we dont get to see Mona.
Even though it is low season, the crowds are here. It would be very different and more exhausting in Summer.
Today we checked into Hotel Alison in the suburb of Madeleine, all narrow streets leading off everywhere and a new surprise round every corner.
Jesse the police cars are all Peugeots and taxis are Renaults, Mercedes; Peugeots, everything. The police presence here is huge, they are on the beat and in shop fronts and outside buildings, nothing like home where you dont see the police. It is a safe city, no violence or knives, very little grafitti, just to be aware of pickpockets. We are very paranoid about our possessions.
We have cruised The Seine, gone into Notre Dame(not as sensational as a church called St. Eustache), seen The Eiffel lit up at night in blue and red and sparkles,
and walked the length of The Champs Elysses to The Arc de Triomphe, with statue of Charles DeGaulle. So much history and we know so little.
Melbourne will never look the same again.
We had coffee in Maccas on the Champs!! Breakfast in un cafe near the hotel which consisted of exquisite cafe au lait, baguette au frommage et sausage( love my hotdogs, they are cheap and filling) and for Greg sandwich au poulet, chicken and TARTE AU CHERRY(DONT KNOW FRENCH FOR CHERRY!) 14 euros, not bad.
The food is so fresh; not mass produced and we have seen no overweight Parisiens despite the richness of the buttery baked goods!
Only hope all the walking is doing us good, our legs felt it today!
Tomorrow last day hope to buy some Paris fashion items. The luggage is a little heavier!
Au revoir and bon nuit.
Pauline and Greg..... in Paris
