So, when are you going to look closer at your home city and attempt to tell everyone else about it in our City Notebooks? We know you are more likely to want to tell everyone more about far flung cities that you have visited briefly and photographed with the latest duty free megapixel marvel than write about your own home.
Doesn’t really make sense does it?
When you think about it, there is so much you did not know about the city you visited, and so much you do know about your own.
So why not try to explain to others all the answers to questions you might have wanted to ask a local when you were in a foreign city.
Questions about public transport, accommodation, sightseeing attractions and historical facts to mention but a few.

The Jules Verne, on the second level of the Eiffel Tower.
We were met at the south tower by a very polite professional doorman, who said " you are Australian!" We then took the exclusive private lift, while all the tourists lined up for miles below. A scary amazing ride, right between the struts, 123 metres up. Another polite waiter, (all madame and monsieur) showed us to the best table in the quite small room, right in front of the window. Just for us. We had Perrier, same price as a good aussie bottle of wine, apperitif of something tiny in a little bowl. We were sure he said canard of something and I do not eat DUCK however it was meant to be eaten. Very rich.. Main course of sea bass for moi, accompanied by aubergine, celeriac and some sauce. Melt in mouth. Greg had veal, he said strange but nice. The waiter brought a 3 litre bottle of chardonnay and poured from that. Dessert was sensational, our first creme brulee, can't describe it, real raspberries, cream, custard, tiny biscuits, accompanied by little squares of marshmallow, choc truffles and dainty, tiny bikkies. We have been plagued by headaches, I think dehydration and lack of coffee so are drinking more water and the coffee here was strong and yummy.
The waiters speak French but will accommodate you if you at least try to speak French, and they all speak English anyway.
The view of Paris spread out around us left us lost for words, and Greg doesn't say much anyway! The officious waiter took our photo, not too bad, can't afford to lose that one. We were dressed up for the cooler weather but the day was sunny and warm, no coat needed. I went to la toilette in the Eiffel Tower
On opening la door, the tap came on so I washed my hands for the fun of it and the dryer came on, this is before I even went in, luxury!
