So, when are you going to look closer at your home city and attempt to tell everyone else about it in our City Notebooks?
We know you are more likely to want to tell everyone more about far flung cities that you have visited briefly and photographed with the latest duty free megapixel marvel than write about your own home.

Doesn’t really make sense does it?

When you think about it, there is so much you did not know about the city you visited, and so much you do know about your own.
So why not try to explain to others all the answers to questions you might have wanted to ask a local when you were in a foreign city.
Questions about public transport, accommodation, sightseeing attractions and historical facts to mention but a few.

Galini Hotel Santorini Booking - DIDN'T HAPPEN! BUT, turned out OK!

The following emails were swapped between us and it all looked great until we
walked in the door of the hotel at 11:30PM on a dark night.

"Didn't you get our email?!" was the first thing the surprised man said after
confirming it was us standing before him with all our baggage.

UH-oh! This is something you definitely dont want to hear after traveling
forever to get to Santorini from Athens on a toy plane.

Turns out they sent an email to my personal address we were not using on our
trip, telling us that they had to do a massive work update on the place, and had
suggested some alternatives to us.

As we had not replied they assumed we had just gone and booked someone else
instead as they had emailed three weeks earlier.

As luck would have it, they said dont worry we will get you to stay at a friends
place at the same cost, after some quick phone calls.

We were a bit concerned at this as we had selected them after a fair bit of
research on the best place for the reasonable cost.

They really came through for us as we were placed in the HIGHEST Self contained
Suite overlooking the Caldera with the cliffs about 25 metres away. It was about
a hundred metres away from the Galini in exactly the place we would have picked
if money was no object almost.

It was unbelievable the views from the balcony over the Caldera!

With cooking facilities as well we were able to save more money and not need to
go out to eat all the time.
