Our Air New Zealand flight from Auckland dipped over the blue sea of the
California coast.



" 26 miles across the sea, Santa Catalina is waitin' for me,...Santa Catalina,
the island of romance, romance,romance, romance".

A busy Manhattan hotel across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.

The entrance was imposing and impressive on first visit and registering was like you had just entered customs at the airport with the ques guided in to the counter by seatbelt barriers.



The first impression was rapidly eroded when getting into the ancient lifts and finding our room outside the Rubbish wheelie bin room across the corridor.
